If you have just had a treatment on your lawn from Lancashire Lawncare and the next day your lawn has larger black patches on it do not fear. We have applied a moss killer to your lawn. Let me explain the benefits.

Applying moss killer is just one of the 4 treatments you will receive from Lancashire Lawncare to bring about a better lawn for you. Some lawns have more moss than others, however the application is the same for all, a iron sulphate spray which attacks the moss, kills it and turns it a black colour,(hence the black patches in your lawn).
If the moss is thick then it is best to apply the moss killer around October/November before it gets too thick. Ideally moss killing should be coupled with scarification. You may have the means to do this yourself or you can contact us to do this. If the moss is exceptionally thick, then a second application may be needed even after scarifying just to kill off what’s left. The moss spray cover the top surface and sinks into the moss inhibiting growth as it prevents sunlight from penetrating down to the moss beneath. All the while this is happening there are further benefits going on. The moss killing application also hardens the turf to keep it strong and healthy throughout the winter months and also it will improve the colour of your lawn.
If for any reason after the moss spray application has gone down you see light green streaks, again do not worry. From time to time the nozzles in the sprayer get partially blocked and this affects the spraying. Just give us a quick call and we’ll fill in the gaps. Lancashire Lawncare, here to help, happy to help.
