Summer Lawn Care Advice

As we are now in the Summer months I’m sure like me you love to be in your garden, BBQ at the ready and entertaining your friends. The only thing you could be missing is a lovely lawn for you all to enjoy! Well we can provide the help and advice you need. Don’t forget our lawn care covers Crosby, Formby, Southport, Preston, Chorley, Fylde and all surrounding areas. Here are a few tips to keep your lawn looking great throughout the Summer.

1. Call Lancashire Lawncare - Why? We provide the needed nourishment for your lawn in the form of specific, well regulated fertiliser. At the same time we spray the lawn for any weeds that may be spoiling the appearance of the lawn.
2. You must keep on top of the watering - Why? Lawns, flowers and plants are all dependant upon water to grow and survive. A large exposed lawn is especially susceptible to drying out if it doesn’t have a good root base, from regular feeding, and is not watered regularly either from the rain or from your household watersource. Aim to water either early morning or the evening when the water will not just quickly evaporate away.
3. Mow the lawn, not too short - Why? The strength of the grass is in both the root and the blade. If you’ve cared well for the roots you are in a better position, however leaving the grass just a little longer at this time of the year keeps not only the colour of your lawn but also better stamina if it’s especially hot. A cylinder mower is arguably better as it leaves less ‘droppage’ on the lawn.

Treat My Lawn

“Can you please come and treat my lawn” is a phrase we often hear from new customers. The ever increasingly popular need to treat lawns has led to an upsurge in the North West areas that we cover. We’re always delighted when we hear those words “come and treat my lawn” as it means we must be doing something right. To treat lawns you need the correct products and the correct tools. Time and again we fix lawns that have had either an overdose of fertiliser or the wrong weed killer or even off the shelf fertiliser which has heralded very little results. When we treat lawns we use professional equipment which calibrates the amount of product that goes onto the lawn. For example when treating lawns with lawn fertiliser we use either a hand spreader or a rotary spreader both correctly calibrated so as to ensure an even and correct distribution of lawn fertiliser. The same is true of our knapsacks which we use to treat the lawns for weeds or moss. The concentration of the solution is critical to avoid scorching or having a understrength soultion.

So what would it cost to treat my lawn?

Our prices start from £13 a quarter for a small lawn.
For this you receive 4 treatments throughout the year

Spring Weed and Feed
Summer Weed and Feed
Autumn Weed and Feed
Winter Moss Control
*We offer extra treatments to lawns especially in the Southport and Fylde area where the sandy soils cause some problems. Also we offer extra moss control at the beginning of the year to help slow down moss growth which has been particularly bad this year.

These keep on top of weeds and moss and also promote healthy root structure, growth and colouring. So when we treat lawns we really do give you a service you’ll be happy to recommend.
We hope the next time we hear “come and treat my lawn” the voice is yours. We look forward to your call.

You may have seen us advertised on the front page of In & Round Churchtown. We are running with a few leaflet and booklet campaigns in order to offer to help more and more locals with their lawns. You will also see us advertising in Southport, Formby and Crosby Trader. With the weather picking up a bit now is the time to get stuck in to those spring time gardening jobs. When it comes to treating the lawn though why not give us a call? We really can do the treatments at less than the cost of doing it yourself. By building up the strength of your lawn through a regular feeding programme you can help your lawn fight back against the dreaded moss. We are also offering all our customers new or old an extra moss treatment to help control the moss and keep it at bay until we begin scarifying again in the new year.

Beware of Cheap Imitations

Throughout every industry there are varying degrees of quality. For example visit any local supermarket and you will have branded products, supermarket own products and supermarket budget/basic products. Some say all products are the same with different packaging, but is that really the case? And what about all the different lawn care companies currently at work near you?
Well, at Lancashire Lawncare we aim to give you the perfect mixture of personal service with professional quality. Our products are designed to give you the very best results for your lawn. We don’t have a patented product but use the right product at the right time of the year coupled with the necessary recommendations to keep your lawn in great shape. Our personal service means that we keep an eye on how the product is working and also keep you informed of what’s happening with your lawn.
But “what about the price” I hear you say? “We have been offered lawn treatments cheaper elsewhere!”
We can honestly say that we feel our prices are some of the most realistic and competitive prices out there at this present time. As a small family company we’ve been able to manage our prices so as to meet the demand of the customer. The products are specifically for lawns and adhere to all the guidelines for correct pesticide handling according to current regulations. We therefore quote for and carry out the treatments at a cost that represents the quality of product and service. You will perhaps have noticed that our prices are not changing in price year on year but represent value for money. Sometimes those “bargain” prices that you have been offered will come back and bite you because the company just can’t make a living. We want to remain in business and continue to service lawns throughout the North-West. We therefore urge you to avoid cheap imitations and continue to get great service and great value for your money by sticking with or choosing Lancashire Lawncare.

Eight Years of Lawn Maintenance

It hardly seems 5 minutes ago since my second child was born. He’s now 8 years old!! It was just before he was born that I took the leap into the Lawn Care business. Wanting to spend time with my family as well as providing for them I embarked on the journey of establishing, maintaining and building Lancashire Lawncare. And here we are now, 8 years old!!
So how are we doing? Well we have expanded from Preston both North and South. North into Fylde, Blackpool and St Annes and South into Southport, Formby and Crosby. We also cover Chorley, Ormskirk, Aughton and other areas around. Our lawn care services include lawn aeration, using a hollow-tine aerator, lawn scarifcation, moss control, pest control and seasonal weed and feed treatments. We are currently scarifying and aerating in preparation for our Spring feed which gets put down in March.
Our expansion continues as we are looking for more customers within the areas we cover. Our customers play a valuable role in recommending us to others and we thank you for this. We ask that you continue to spread the word about Lancashire Lawncare and in return we offer money off your treatments or a bottle of wine.
Here’s to the next 8 years and beyond!!

A 2011 Welcome To Lancashire Lawncare

Dear customers we give you a warm welcome to another year of activity with your lawn care specialists, Lancashire Lawncare. We aim to continue our growth throughout this new year and remind you that your recommendations and support are really what keep us going. We thank you once again for your continued custom with us. We’d like to remind you of our ongoing offer of rewards based upon your recommending friends or family. We give a free bottle of wine or £5 off your next treatment should you successfully recommend.

Now that the snow has cleared and the sun has reappeared, (for now anyway) we have begun our lawn scarification and lawn aeration procedures. We generally carry this out upto the middle/end of March before the growing period. This is increasing in popularity as customers are seeing the benefits of these lawn cleansing procedures. Be sure not to miss out of clearing out your lawn ready for the spring growth. (See other articles on Lawn Scarification and Lawn Aeration for more details).

Can we also take this opportunity to remind you to submit any photos or comments you have via the website. This will give us the opportunity to further promote our business but more importantly will help us to address any common problems or questions you may have and then answer them accurately for all our other customers to benefit from. We pride ourselves on being a family based company which offers a personal but professional touch and we look forward to continuing to treat your lawns in 2011.

Many thanks

Your lawn care provider

Lancashire Lawncare.

Success Story

We recently had an enquiry about a lawn in desperate need of attention. Our Southport/Formby/Crosby lawncare representative Rob, went to investigate.

The owners of the lawn was desperate to get their lawn back after the harsh summer we’ve had. As you can see from the photo it ended up a real mess.

One quick call to Lancashire Lawncare and a few treatments later the lawn is well and truly on its well to full recovery. It was quickly determined that the lawn was in need of aeration to relieve compaction and also needed a weed killer and lawn fertiliser applying in the correct dosage. This obviously took a little while to recover still and needed a little reseeding in the barest of patches but with the professional lawncare attention it needed it now looks much, much better. Due to the damage done by the drought and the previous misapplication of chemicals the lawn the lawn took a real hammering, and has taken a little time and attention to get back. However, our customer is delighted with the result after only two applications. By spring next year the lawn should be 100% recovered. Regular treatments from Lancashire Lawncare will prevent this from happening again.

Crosby Lawn Care

I’m fast approaching my first full year as a lawn care technician and I’ve enjoyed helping to expand the family business. We’ve been established for over 5 years now but are slowly expanding the area we cover so as to meet the demand of our success. We’re already an established name in the Preston area and have recently expanded northward into Fylde and Chorley (see other posts) Lawn care in Crosby and the the surrounding areas of Formby, Hightown, Southport, Aughton and Ormskirk seemed the natural choice as they are right on my doorstep. Living right in the heart of Crosby, next to the train station, I’ve been able to establish a good customer base in the local area. It’s my aim to continue working hard to build the area and our reputation. Crosby lawns especially are in need of lawn care due to the sandy soil and prevalence of moss. Lancashire Lawncare provides 4 or 5 treatments a year to cover all the needs of even the most difficult of lawns. This include seasonal treatments along with a weed killer and moss control. We also offer lawn aeration and lawn scarification to aid the appearance and health of the lawn. Please call me today if you have any lawn requirements, need advice or help or are interested in acquiring our services for your lawn.
