NEWS BLOG

Been a while since my last blog but I thought with the winter months upon us many of you will be starting to think about scarifying and aeration. Lawn scarification is an absolute essential to keep away moss and thatch from building up in your lawn. Many lawn mowers have scarifier attachments on them and this can be an easy way to keep on top of the scarifying. However, most lawns require a more powerful scarifier to cut through the moss and thatch and provide effective removal. Lancashire Lawncare offer this service to you and can really make a difference to the health of your lawn. Hollow-Tine Aeration significantly helps too in keeping the moss at bay as well as relieving compaction and allowing air and water to get to the roots of the grass. Although we as a company cover many customers who require this treatment we recommend that the early spring months are the optimum time to carry these proceedures out. We are more than happy to provide a quote for these services so get in touch today at enquiries@lancashirelawncare.co.uk

1. Identify if the lawn needs scarifying
2. Scarify at 45 degrees
3. Tidy up the moss and thatch (you can use a lawn mower on a high setting to do this although a leaf blower and rake are more effective)
4. Go over the lawn in straight lines
5. Tidy up the moss and thatch (you can use a lawn mower on a high setting to do this although a leaf blower and rake are more effective)
6. Use a hollow-tine aerator to finish off the job*

*some prefer to aerate the lawn at the start of the job so as to leave it looking tidy at the end. There is no right or wrong way to do this really it’s purely up to the discretion of the householder or lawn care provider
